308 Around the Golden Gate

We are being tormented (probably unintentionally) by a CB radio operator who calls himself "308 Around the Golden Gate." We receive him on the telephone, we hear him on the stereo, and even on the computer speakers.

Not only is he loud, he's boring. Today he just kept saying, "Hellllo, Heeellllllllllloooooo, Helllllllllllllllllooooooooooo" over and over again, until I gave up trying to use the phone.

If anyone reading this knows who the guy is, please let him know.

New Mexico to join in on the idling issue just like California

Will New Mexico be next? The Associated Press has said that New Mexico is eying the new non idle law that California has just started using, for trucks weighing more than 16001 lbs. Florida, Minnesota and Colorado have also moved to join the band wagon in efforts to lesson the green house effects they say truck idling is harming.

Before you know it trucks will no longer be able to idle anywhere in the USA.

California can Deny drivers based in California Registration if cited for idiling more than 5 minutes

Truck drivers,owners, and companies based in California can be denied registration ,renewals, and transfers if they have been cited idling for more than 5 minutes. California began enforcing Jan. 1 2008 a new idling limit that no longer exempts sleeper-berth time, though it does exempt idling of trucks carrying temperature-dependent loads, performing safety or maintenance checks and “to prevent a health emergency.”

The state can deny registrations, renewals, and transfers until the citation has been cleared.

Karen Caesar, a spokeswoman for the California Air Resources Board has stated that the local police have been giving the authority to write citations for idiling for more than 5 minutes.

This could really hurt truck drivers, owners, and companies if the citation were to fall on or around the same time as their registration does. Because how long will it take for the court to clear it?

Mike Ryan Crashes Fuel Tanker In Sony Pictures New Premonition Movie

North Hollywood, CA - Big Rig racer and Hollywood stunt driver, Mike Ryan will appear in Sony Pictures new movie, Premonition that will be released in theaters March 16th, 2007.

Premonition stars Sandra Bullock as a wife with a perfect life and perfect husband until one day she received the terrible news her husband has been killed in a car accident-or has he? In the movie, Ryan jack-knifes and crashes a fuel tanker into the car that Sandra Bullock’s characters husband is killed in. Directed by Mennan Yapo, the film was shot on location in Shreveport, LA. Ryan states that the new jack-knife system developed by 2nd Unit Director Joel Kramer and Tommy & Scott Fisher’s special effects team made this the first time there’s been a controlled full 90 degree jack-knife to the right side of the tractor that he is aware of. “The timing and coordination developed between myself and Stunt Coordinator, Steve Ritzi, as he operated the trailer and I drove the truck made the whole experience safe, repeatable and exciting” Ryan said.

Ryan performed his first paid stunt when he was just 18 and has been seen crashing, burning and getting blown up in such films as; Herbie Fully Loaded, After The Sunset, The Italian Job, Training Day, Swordfish and the classic Terminator 2.
